What happens in the event of an early departure?

Has your plan changed and you need to leave your accommodation before the planned date? Don't panic. On Roomlala, an early departure is perfectly possible, and the process is simple. Here is what happens in practice and how to go about it.

Who can shorten the rental duration

Early departure applies to long-term rentals, where rent is paid each month online via the payment schedule. It is the tenant who can shorten the duration of their rental, directly from their personal account.

The host, on the other hand, cannot shorten the rental themselves: they can only extend it. If you are a host and your tenant wishes to leave earlier, invite them to make the change from their own account.

How to shorten your rental

If you are a tenant and you wish to bring forward your departure date, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Roomlala account and open the payment schedule for your rental.
  • Click on the "Shorten duration" button.
  • Indicate the new end date for your rental, then click on "Modify".

What happens once the duration is shortened

As soon as you confirm the change:

  • Rent already paid remains non-refundable.
  • Rent for the months following your new departure date is cancelled: you no longer have anything to pay for this period.
  • Your payment schedule is automatically updated with the new end date.
  • Your host is informed of the change by email.

If your new departure date falls in the middle of a month, the payment schedule is adjusted so that you only pay for the period actually occupied.
