How do reviews work?

Updated on 04/06/2026

After each stay, you can leave a review and receive one in return. This is what builds trust on Roomlala. Here is how it works, where to leave your review, and within what timeframes.

The principle: a mutual review

On Roomlala, the review process is two-way. At the end of a stay, the tenant reviews the host and the host reviews the tenant. Each person shares their thoughts on the experience. However, the review takes a slightly different form for each party.

If you are a tenant: you rate your host

Your review consists of two parts:

  • A rating across 4 criteria, from 1 to 5 stars: Overall, Welcome, Cleanliness, and Reliability.
  • A written comment to describe your experience in your own words.

These ratings contribute to the average rating displayed on the host's profile and on their listing.

If you are a host: you comment on your tenant

For your part, the review is written only: you leave a comment about the tenant you hosted, with no star system. This comment appears on the tenant's profile.

You also have the option to publicly reply to a review you have received, to say thank you or provide your perspective.

When can you leave a review?

The review becomes available the day after your departure date. You cannot review a stay that has not yet ended: this is intentional, as the idea is to provide feedback on the complete experience.

Once submitted, your review is published immediately. It then appears on the person's profile and, in the case of a host review, on the relevant listing and in their average rating.

Where to leave your review

Everything is handled from your personal account:

  • Log in, then open the Reviews section.
  • At the top, you will find your "Pending reviews": these are the stays you can still review.
  • Click on the review to be completed, assign your stars for each criterion, add your comment, then save.

In this same section, two tabs allow you to view your "Reviews received" and your "Reviews sent".

Timeframes to keep in mind

There is no rush, but don't wait too long either:

  • You will receive several email reminders after departure so you don't forget to leave your feedback.
  • You have up to 6 months after the end of the stay to submit your review.
  • After this period, the pending review expires and it is no longer possible to write it.

Why your opinion matters

Each review helps other members choose with confidence. A well-rated host reassures future tenants, and a well-reviewed tenant inspires trust in hosts. By taking a few minutes to review your stay, you contribute to a safer and more friendly community.
