How does a booking work? (for guests)

Updated on 20/04/2026

You've found a listing you like on Roomlala and you're wondering how to book it? Don't worry, we'll guide you through each step, from the first contact with the host to your arrival at the property.

1. Finding the right accommodation for you

Start by searching on Roomlala, indicating your destination and dates. Take the time to browse several listings: description, photos, amenities, rental conditions and reviews left by previous guests. The more informed your choice, the more smoothly your stay will go.

2. Sending a request to the host

On the listing page, click the "Contact [host's first name]" button. This will take you to an "Information Request" form where you specify:

  • Your arrival and departure dates
  • The number of guests
  • A introductory message for the host

Take care with your message: introduce yourself briefly, explain the reason for your stay and ask any questions you may have. A clear and warm message significantly increases your chances of getting a positive response.

3. Interacting with the host

Your request is sent to the host, who can reply, ask you questions, pre-approve your request or decline it. You'll receive an email notification for each reply, and you can track all your conversations in the My bookings section of your account.

As long as you haven't paid, you're not committing to anything: this is purely the exchange stage to get acquainted and confirm that the accommodation suits you.

4. Confirming the booking by paying

Depending on the listing, two scenarios are possible:

  • The host has pre-approved your request: you are invited to pay to confirm the booking.
  • The listing is for instant booking: you can pay directly without waiting for the host's approval.

Payment is made securely online by credit card. The amount depends on the type of rental:

  • For a short-term stay: the entire stay is paid upon booking.
  • For a long-term rental: you pay the first month and, if applicable, the security deposit. Subsequent months are paid according to the established schedule.

Roomlala service fees are added at the time of payment and are clearly shown in the summary before confirmation.

5. Receiving confirmation of your stay

Once payment has been made and the host confirmed, your booking is validated. You'll receive a summary email with all useful information: dates, property address and host's contact details.

We recommend you get in touch with your host again a few days before your arrival to arrange the check-in time and practicalities (key handover, access code, etc.).

6. Arrival and inventory check

On the day, go to the property at the agreed time with the host. Take the time to inspect the accommodation together and report any issues immediately. An inventory check-in can be carried out directly from your Roomlala space and electronically signed by both parties. An inventory check-out will be carried out in the same way at the end of your stay.

7. After your stay: leaving a review

At the end of your stay, you are invited to leave a review for your host and the accommodation. Take a moment to do so: your feedback helps future guests make their choice and allows hosts to improve their hospitality.
