Roomlala referral programme: how it works and how to earn your rewards
Updated on 08/09/2026
Have you been talking about Roomlala to people around you and are wondering what is in it for you? Here is everything you need to know about our referral scheme and the bonuses you can receive.
The principle in a nutshell
Every Roomlala member has a personal referral code. When someone you have referred makes a booking on Roomlala, you receive a bonus: a share of the commission that Roomlala collects on that booking.
This bonus is not a discount voucher: it is money, paid by bank transfer into your bank account.
Where to find your referral code
Go to the Referral section of your profile. Your code is displayed at the top of the page. You just need to share it with the people you wish to refer.
Entering your referrer's code
If someone has sent you their code, enter it in the field provided on the same page, then save. A few points to keep in mind:
- A referrer can only be chosen once. Once the code is saved, it cannot be changed.
- You cannot enter your own code.
- Your account must have been created after that of your referrer.
So, take the time to check the code before submitting it.
How the bonus is calculated
The bonus corresponds to 30% of the commission collected by Roomlala on the first instalment of your referee's booking. The amount therefore depends on the rent and the rental terms: the larger the booking, the higher the bonus.
The referral scheme works both ways: whether your referee is a tenant or a host on the booking, the bonus goes to you.
You do not need to do anything: as soon as your referee's booking is confirmed and the host has been paid, the bonus automatically appears in your Referral section.
The different bonus statuses
Each bonus displayed in your history has a status:
- Pending: the bonus has been earned but cannot be withdrawn yet. The date on which it will become available is indicated below the line.
- Available: the bonus can be included in a payment request.
- Request in progress: the bonus is part of a payment request currently being processed.
- Paid: the transfer has been completed.
- Cancelled: the booking that generated the bonus did not ultimately go ahead.
The summary at the top of the section gives you an at-a-glance view of the total available, the total pending and the total already paid.
When does a bonus become available?
A bonus remains pending for a period of 3 days. This period starts on the later of these two dates: the tenant's move-in date or the payment made to the host.
This short waiting period allows us to ensure that the booking went well before releasing the funds. Once the period has elapsed, the bonus automatically switches to "Available".
Sometimes a bonus remains pending for a little longer: certain situations trigger a manual check by our team (for example, when referrer and referee share the same contact details). This is just a check, not a refusal.
Receiving your bonuses
Payment is not automatic: you trigger it yourself using the button in the Referral section. For this button to be active, four conditions must be met:
- Your identity must be verified.
- Your bank details must be registered and validated.
- Your total available bonuses must reach £20.
- No other payment request must be in progress.
If any of these conditions are not met, a message will tell you exactly what needs to be corrected. The £20 threshold is simple to explain: below that, the transfer fees would exceed the amount sent.
Once the request is sent, it is checked by our team before the transfer is made. You can track its progress in the payment history at the bottom of the Referral section.
The transfer is made in whole euros. The remaining cents are not lost: they stay in your account and will be added to your next payment.
Why a bonus might be cancelled
A bonus is based on a commission actually collected by Roomlala. If this commission disappears, the bonus disappears too. This is the case when:
- the booking is cancelled by the tenant or the host;
- the booking is declined or expires without being validated;
- the payment schedule is recalculated following a change to the booking. In this case, a new bonus is created for the new schedule.
Bonuses already paid are never reclaimed.
Some special cases
- You cannot refer yourself: the corresponding bonus will be cancelled.
- You cannot receive a bonus on a booking where you are the tenant or the host yourself.
- There is no limit to the number of people you can refer.
