How to avoid scams on Roomlala?
Updated on 18/11/2025
Stay vigilant against scams
Roomlala does its utmost to limit fraudulent listings.
Nevertheless, it is important to remain vigilant during your searches and bookings.
Good practices to adopt
- 🚫 Be wary of a host who claims to live or be travelling abroad and asks for a deposit to "secure" the rental.
- 📧 Always check the email address if you communicate outside Roomlala's messaging system. Scammers sometimes use fake addresses resembling our brand.
- 💸 Refuse requests for money transfers via "mandat cash", Moneygram or Western Union.
- 💳 Never pay outside the website. The secure Roomlala payment system is the only one that protects you in case of fraud or an unpleasant surprise.
- 🏡 Do not pay a security deposit before your arrival. Only hand it over on the day of your arrival, in exchange for the keys.
Other useful tips
- Always compare the price of the accommodation with other similar listings.
- Ask the host questions via the contact form, then the Roomlala messaging system.
- Be attentive to descriptions with many errors or "too perfect" photos.
- Consult the reviews left by other users, if available.
- Check if the host has verified their identity and phone number.
⚠️ In case of a problem
If you encounter an unpleasant surprise upon arrival, you can declare a dispute from your Roomlala messaging system, until 1pm the following day.
